Living environment

The ISIGE houses its students on one of the Ecole des Mines de Paris' four sites-at the Fontainebleau campus. This campus includes approximately 350 people and brings together the geosciences and mathematics research centres. The site also accommodates the "Earth Sciences, Environment, and Sustainable Development" collection of the French National Library and of UNESCO's Man and Biosphere programme. The site, with its old, listed buildings spread over a verdant setting, also has a cafeteria and restaurant.

Beyond the ambitious professional objective, this training programme offers students the opportunity to experience a unique, unforgettable, and fascinating year that will also enable them to create lasting memories and connections!

Each year, the majority of the Master's programme students choose to live in Fontainebleau. Located 60 kilometres south of Paris, this town offers a special living environment to the French and foreign students residing there. On top of the cultural offering and the town's opportunities for outings, the students value the proximity of the forest area. The Fontainebleau Forest, including a section listed as a "Man and Biosphere" reserve by UNESCO, offers several options for leisure activities-hiking, biking, and climbing. The town possesses numerous athletic facilities, due among other things to the presence of the Ecole Inter Armée des Sports (French Inter-Army Sports school), thereby making it possible to participate in multiple sports.

For students who prefer to reside in Paris, it is possible to reach Fontainebleau by train from the Gare de Lyon, or by shuttle departing from the Paris location of the Ecole des Mines on Boulevard Saint-Michel (6th arrondissement).
